Our History

In 2001 Father Michael Yadron, Pastor of Queen of All Saints in Michigan City, decided that Queen of All Saints needed a men's club.  This club needed to enhance the relationship and friendship of Catholic men in doing projects for the church, our community, state and nation.  His answer was the Knights of Columbus.

Father working with the District Deputy Joe Niksic he got the commitment of 50 parish men to start this council.  It was chartered by Knights of Columbus Supreme in May of 2002.  PGK Thomas Biela was the first of many Grand Knights to serve as Grand Knight.

Through the years the council has grown to over 100 Catholic Gentleman who desire to help strengthen their faith and volunteerism in their community.  Through breakfasts, dinners, tootsie roll drives, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, plant sales, meetings with guest speakers, events with spouses and families and many other projects have given our Council a long lasting impact on our community.  Not only monetarily but volunteering their talents to better those around us.

In 2017 our Council through the generosity of then Pastor Father Kevin Huber got a permanent home on the Queen of All Saints Campus.    In these new Council Chambers our Council is able to display the many awards earned by our members through the years, and conduct our meetings.  We have also had the opportunity to host many regional and state meetings at Queen of All Saints.

Twenty plus years later we are still a very strong council and invite any Catholic gentleman who would like to get involved in projects with other Catholic gentlemen to please contact us.

Founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Conn., and a group of parishioners. Their intent? To bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Today, Father McGivney is being considered for sainthood.
