Happy New Year from QAS!

Happy New Year!

It’s the beginning of a new year! At the start of the new year, many of us make resolutions. Often times, we try to visit the gym more often or eat healthier. Maybe you have a resolution to learn something new or to try something outside of your comfort zone. Resolutions can be a really great thing! The new year is a fresh start! It’s a great time to evaluate how things are going in your life, and strive to make some new, healthy changes.

On Wednesday, January 1st, we celebrated The Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. It’s fitting that we should begin our new year with a celebration of Mary. On the first day of the year, we honored Mary through the Mass, and asked her intercession in our own lives. As we begin a new year and strive to make new changes in our lives, we cannot forget our faith. We cannot forget that we need the help, love, and mercy of Jesus Christ in our lives. John 15:5 reads, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” Without Christ, we won’t get very far!

We need His constant aid in our lives. 2 Corinthians 12:9 reads, “But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Christ knows that we are weak and need His help every day this year. He longs to give us His help throughout the year as we strive to delve deeper in our faith and make positive changes. Mary, the Mother of God, also longs to intercede for us. She longs to pray for us and help us, so that we may grow closer to Christ.

This year, I challenge you to lean on God. Let Him help you. Allow yourself to completely learn on Him, depend on Him, and give your life to Him. Allow yourself to completely rest in Him. He has the grace, mercy, and love to help you every day. Ask for His help, and ask Mother Mary to intercede for you this year.

What are some practical ways we can do this?

- Pray the rosary to ask for Mary's intercession and help!

- Go to confession to receive the grace and mercy of God.

- Pick a specific saint to pray to throughout this year.

- Make a faith-based resolution, and ask the Lord to help you with it.

I hope that you have a blessed start to your year!
